Continuing Professional Education in Agribusiness, Environmental Management and Life Sciences
The New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) Office of Continuing Professional Education (OCPE), celebrating one hundred years of service, provides practical, applied education through short courses, conferences, and symposia. More than 550 credit and non-credit programs provide skills and training that can advance your career in agribusiness, environmental management, and life sciences. All programs are open to the general public.
OCPE Green Industry programs include a series of short courses in commercial horticulture, landscape design, and turf grass management. The internationally recognized Professional Golf Turf Management School provides specialized, applied education in turf grass management. Graduates of this certificate program are employed as superintendents by top golf courses across the country.
Programs offered in environmental management include topics in pond and stream restoration, wetland delineation, water quality, and wetland ecology. For Solid Waste management professionals, OCPE offers a certification program in the field of recycling.
For graduating seniors and people interested in careers in the environmental field, OCPE's seven-week Environment and Public Health course, scheduled for June and July, enables students to pursue careers as licensed environmental health specialists, health officers, environmental engineers, and corporate sanitarians. This course is also a prerequisite for New Jersey's registered environmental health specialist licensing exam.
