Campus Security
The Rutgers University Police Department is dedicated to providing a full range of police and security services in an effort to support a safe and secure environment for a diverse academic community. The department operates 24 hours a day from its headquarters at 55 Commercial Avenue on the College Avenue Campus. Police officers patrol the campuses on foot, in vehicles, and on bicycles. University police officers enforce laws and university regulations, respond to emergencies, investigate criminal activities, provide security for campus facilities and events, and provide crime prevention and other services. The Division of Public Safety has uniformed security officers and community service officers who patrol the campuses serving as the “eyes and ears” for the police as well as securing facilities, providing escort services, and operating security shuttle buses.
