swimmingRutgers Recreation, operates four locations in the summer: the Werblin Recreation Center, the College Avenue Gymnasium, The Cook/Douglass Recreation Center and the Easton Avenue Fitness Center. These facilities are available for open recreation Monday through Friday during each Summer Session. The Easton Avenue Fitness Center is also open on Saturdays. A summer schedule listing exact times for each facility may be obtained at the front desks located in the lobbies of the facilities by or by searching online at recreation.rutgers.edu.

The Werblin Recreation Center and the Cook/Douglass Center offer a fitness center, swimming pools, racquetball courts, basketball and volleyball courts. The College Avenue Gym offers a fitness center and basketball courts. All students, faculty, staff, and conference participants are invited to use the facilities. University personnel must present a valid university ID at the security desk upon entering the facility. Individuals who do not possess an ID card must obtain one for a nominal fee at the administrative offices in each building. No other form of ID is accepted.

Picnic areas are located at the Werblin Recreation Center, the Sport Club Field and the Cook/Douglass Recreation Center. Room or outdoor space reservations can be made through the administrative offices at Werbln.

Equipment Loan

Sports equipment may be borrowed from the equipment room, located in each building. Equipment is loaned on an hourly basis while you are in the building. A valid university ID, and driver's license must be left as collateral. Recreation Classes
All part-time and full-time Rutgers university students, R.U. faculty and staff, and recreation membership card holders may register for a wide variety of non-credit recreation classes.

Courses run between June 10 and August 15 and meet. There is a small fee for each class. Registration can be done online through the recreation website recreation.rutgers.edu.

Rutgers Recreation operates fitness centers at four separate locations during the summer. The Werblin Recreation Center; The College Avenue Gym; The Cook/Douglass Rec Ctr. and The Rutgers Fitness Center on Easton Avenue. Whether you workout occasionally or have a daily exercise routine, we have a center nearby that is appropriate for you.

The Fitness Center at Werblin is over 5,000 sq. ft. It is a bright inviting space where hundreds of students, faculty and staff come each day to use the Stairmasters, the stationary bikes, treadmills, transports, selectorized equipment, and free weights. The center also offers 9 TV's with cardio theater to provide entertainment for cardiovascular workouts.

The Fitness Center at the College Avenue Gym is located on the lower level. It has extensive equipment for the novice or the serious lifter. There is a full line of free weight equipment, including dumbbells, benches, and over a ton of olympic style weights.

The Rutgers Fitness Center at University Center on Easton Avenue is a modern club with two floors of weight and aerobic equipment. It has a full line of selectorized equipment, free weights, stationary bikes and Stairmasters. It also has locker rooms and cable service to make your workout more pleasurable.

The fitness center at Cook/Douglass Rec has a wide range of selectorized equipment, free weights and a separate room for cardio workouts. Flat screen TVs are located on each wall to help keep your workout interesting.
